Dare to Explore!

Tina from the Kumeu Library visited our class this week to tell us about the Reading Activity Programme over the summer break. This is a great opportunity to continue your child's reading skills in a fun way. Just look for books that have the sight words in them (provided in an earlier blog post). You can find out more at the Kumeu Library. There is a booklet, stickers for books that your child has read, challenges, and a lovely party at the end of January for all the participants. I thoroughly recommend you enrol your child!

Art and Writing in Room 6

As part of developing your child's creativity and writing skills, the 'Paint and Write' component utilises regular experience of planning to write through painting their ideas, and then writing about them.

Muriwai Team!

On Tuesday, the Muriwai Team had our end of year movie afternoon. We could bring our toys, blankets, pillows, and even wear our pyjamas!

Creativity in counting!

Who said that skip counting in 10's had to be in lines?

Counting in Maori and English

Team work is encouraged during maths time to support each others learning - a combined effort always brings a smile!

Skip counting in 10's

The students in Room 6 have been using many ways to skip count in tens with our materials. We have been skip counting with gummy bears, with sparkly pipe cleaners and beads, with plastic shapes, and with multilink blocks - and look what can be achieved with team work!
